Silvano
DiGenova's superior knowledge of rare coin grading and his unsurpassed
market savvy earned him the opportunity to participate in the single
largest numismatic transaction in history. His
services as a grading consultant were requested, and he was asked to
assist in the orderly distribution of the El Salvador U.S. gold hoard,
which had a total market value in excess of $50 million!
Mr.
DiGenova was also actively involved in the distribution of a $25
million plus hoard of gold (believed to have originated in Russia) that
was dispersed between 1993 and 1996. He was also a major purchaser of
thousands of superb gem quality silver dollars from the
Continental-Illinois bank hoard. That's just the beginning. Following
is a list of other landmark purchases consummated by Silvano DiGenova:
- Co-purchaser, consultant and minority partner of the Trompetor Proof Gold
- Collection for $15.2 million. This represents the largest RARE COIN private treaty sale in history at the time.
- Purchaser
of the 1907 Ultra High Relief $20 Gold PR-67 for $1.2 million the
highest priced ever realized at public auction for a U.S. gold coin at
the time.
- Buyer of the Jasper Roberson Collection ... over $1 Million!
- Buyer of the Clifford-Kagin San Francisco Mint Collection ... over $2 Million -- and then later resold for $3.1 Million!
- Buyer of the Connoisseur Collection ... over $2.5 Million!
- Buyer of the 1879 $4 Coiled Hair Stella PR65 & PR66 ... over $1.3 Million!
- Buyer of the 1851 Augustus Humbert $50 Choice Proof ... over $600,000!
- Buyer of the 1855 Kellogg $50 Choice Proof ... over $400,000!
- Buyer of the 1865 $20 Transitional PR65 ... over $300,000!
In addition to these noteworthy purchases, Mr. DiGenova is always one of the top buyers (and fr equently
the #1 buyer) at virtually every major auction sale. He spent over $1
million dollars at each of the Apostrophe Auctions (1988-1989 &
1990). He purchased over $1 million at Stack's 55th Anniversary Sale,
over $1 million at Superior Galleries' Mendleson sale, $3/4 million at
Superior Galleries' Trompeter Sale, $1.5 million at Stack's Floyd Star
Sale and nearly $2 million at the Eliasberg Sale
These
purchases clearly establish Mr. DiGenova as one of America's top
buyers. He has the expertise and financial resources required to be not
only a market participant, but a trendsetter and market leader as well.
Mr.
DiGenova has personally traded over $1 billion in rare collectibles
during his thirty-one year career. As demonstrated by the previous
examples, he is often the largest buyer at major auctions,
frequently purchasing 25% or more of the entire sale. Of the fifteen
most expensive coins ever traded privately, Mr. DiGenova personally
purchased six of them. He is also responsible for the acquisition of
several of the largest private coin collections to be offered for sale
in the past ten years. Additionally, Mr. DiGenova has worked with noted
museums, institutions and major auction houses, including the San
Francisco Mint Museum; The Philadelphia International Coin Museum;
Sotheby's; and Christies; functioning as an agent on appraisals and
private sales.
